Thanks for visiting Books for Berks!
A big thank you for those that partnered with Berks Christian School through Books for Berks. Our first year was a huge success and this year we are renewing the project. Books for Berks has provided valuable resources for BCS students to study and grow in their faith and academics. This year we hope to expand and deepen our library to help support a high level of academic excellence.
A note about reading from Mr. Philip Warner, Administrator.
I believe reading is central to communities of learning. (see more on my first blog post.) In his second letter to Timothy, Paul asked him to bring him only three things: a cloak, some parchment, and books. One of the most famous pastors of all time, Charles Spuregon had this commentary on Paul's request:
“Give yourself unto reading.” (Charles Spurgeon)
The man who never reads will never be read;
he who never quotes will never be quoted.
He who will not use the thoughts of other men’s brains,
proves that he has no brains of his own.
You need to read.
We are quite persuaded that the very best way
for you to be spending your leisure time,
is to be either reading or praying.
You may get much instruction from books
which afterwards you may use as a true weapon
in your Lord and Master’s service.
Paul cries, “Bring the books” —
join in the cry.
